Katarzyna Szymielewicz is a Senior Advisor at the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, and the President and co-founder of the Panoptykon Foundation (Fundacja Panoptykon), a highly regarded non-profit organisation based in Poland.
From 2012 to 2020 she was Vice-President of European Digital Rights (EDRi). She has served on the Polish Government civic advisory board for digital, and is a former Ashoka Fellow.
Her expert commentary appears in international media, including Deutsche Welle, The Week, Gazeta Wyborcza, Der Standard, and many others.
She focuses on algorithmic accountability, explainability of AI-supported decisions, the use of inferred personal data for targeted advertising and the societal cost of Big Tech's business model.
