The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) will address the Oireachtas COVID19 Committee today from 3pm. Liam Herrick (Executive Director) and Doireann Ansbro (Senior Research and Policy Officer) will make presentations.
Our full submission addresses the issue of how legislation to deal with the pandemic can be made compliant with human rights principles, and provides examples of how other countries are managing this.
We will also make recommendations on how this can be improved in the future, bearing in mind the approach of the 9 November sunset clause in the current emergency legislation.
