The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruth McCourt as ICCL Head of Communications and Development.
Ruth joins ICCL from the Irish Heart Foundation, where she led the Marketing, Communications and Digital Team. She has worked and volunteered in the charity and non-profit sector for over a decade in a variety of areas including child welfare and protection, health, European affairs, and sexual and gender-based violence.
Speaking today, Liam Herrick, Executive Director of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, welcomed the appointment:
“We’re delighted to have Ruth join us as the newest member of the team here at ICCL. This is an important time for the organisation and for human rights in Ireland. We have an ambitious strategy to build on the progressive changes in Irish society over recent years and help Ireland become a true world leader on human rights and equality.”
“Central to achieving this vision is a strong communications strategy, an engaged membership and supporter base, and a sustainable funding position. Ruth brings a wealth of experience in these areas, and she will play a key role in the next phase of the development of ICCL.”
Ruth holds a BA from Trinity College Dublin and an MA from Dublin City University, as well as a number of further postgraduate qualifications. She is also a Board Member of Daisyhouse Housing Association, an organisation which supports women out of homelessness.
